deceptive - it looks fine until you open it up a few months later to find an
unpleasant surprise. I haven't tried any experiments to hasten the
process, I usually just label very well and check back every month.
I do not rule out the possibility of a stable lip balm with glycerin. I
have seen lipstick formulations that are emulsified but have not tried them.
I don't think that would fall into the category of lip balm formulation 101,
imho.

Subject: Re: [CosmeticLab] Lip balms - glycerin - water
Now I'm Really confused!
how would one get the glycerin to be stable in an anhydrous stick product?
years ago I tried to add some to a lip balm stick formula for it's mild
sweetening effect and it beaded up and separated out of the mass as it
hardened And over time.
it leaked out of the tester tubes in my purse...(you get the idea) it got
Everywhere!
I assumed from my repeated failures at different percentage levels that it
was just not going to mix properly into an oil/wax base, but since no one
has yet chimed in to say it's impossible, it seems like maybe I just gave
up too soon?
Is it possible? How is it done???
Thanks!
Kerri
