Hi,
I'm sorry for your hardships. I too suffer from a debilitating disease, so I know how you have to jump on those good days and enjoy them and let the bad days be a reminder that we are not perfect but God did not give us more than we can't handle. I am Tina, I live in East Texas and I make Hot Process Soap and want to make lotion, completely from scratch.
I have used some lotion base and added some things, it was ok, but I didn't feel it belonged to me because I did not start from scratch. I can't find a recipe for lotion that incorporates aloe and all of the other moisturizers I want without adding germaben II. I don't want that harsh additive.
Also, I need to know what I can put in my soaps to make them colored. Since I'm working with hot process, well, that mess is hot! I do it on the stove and when it is ready to go into the molds there isn't time for much else. I don't know what time to add any coloring or what kind to use for soap.
You might think I should know this, I used to help with the Texas Candle Conference, but I did the paperwork and booklet, I didn't do soap or have any interest in it back then. Now I like to do it for my family. So far I have Camden-Grey as a supplier for the lye. And I've bought oils at Walmart. I have some square colorants left over from a grab bag from the conferences, but I don't know if it is for candles or soaps. It is pretty old now too.
Thanks for keeping this list alive. I searched for an active list on Yahoo and found several, so far this is the only one I've found that is making an effort at being about SOAP.
Have as good a day as God has planned for you,
Tina
