How much extra is the shipping? I called every chemical supply company in this area that was listed online. (There were a grand total of 3!!) Then I One was a wrong number, same company name, but a different company. They were called SGS Services, Inc. The one I actually reached was a mine supply company, who told me that the chemical supply SGS had an unlisted phone number!! One of them told me they could only ship to me by the tractor-trailer load! GRRRRR!! The other one I kept getting a voice mail for "John and Lisa", so I think I can safetly say they don't have lye! So I got a brain storm and looked in the yellow pages. They had one listed. He is about thirty miles from here. He doesn't carry lye, but can get it. I told him I would buy up to a fifty pound bag.He said let him check around and see what he could come up with and he'd call me back. That was early this afternoon. It's 8pm, haven't heard anything. Maybe tomorrow.

Another option is http://www.boyercor poration. com/about_ us.htm I really like their lye. It is in a very thick plastic sack inside a box. I get the 40# size so that is 4 boxes 10# each. I just use it out of the sack and twist it down and put a spring clamp on it. I also get the potassium hydroxide there too. The cost per oz on the 40# sodium hydroxide was .14 cents. As I am in Texas and they are in LaGrange, Illinois you can see that it a long way to ship.
