Yes, it does seem to be much harder to get than it used to be! And more expensive! Right now I can lye at Lowe's, which is an hour's drive - each way. for $12.98/ 2 lbs.  I found a place online, thanks to someone on another list: www.thelyeguy.com . It is $5.25/2 lbs. BUT shipping is $11.41, for a total of $16.66. However, he has an 'introductory special' of buy five, get one free, which totals $26.25. Shipping on all six is $12.84 for a grand total of $39.09. Six cans at Lowe's would be $77.88. So I'd save $38.79. Since it says on the website that it is an 'introductory special', I am assuming that after the first order it would be $31.50 + shipping for a total of $44.34. Which still saves me $33.54. Still a substantial savings, and that is the route I will take if I can't find it in bulk at a good price locally.
