I have been making soap and related toiletries for a couple years. I
have had eczema issues nearly my whole life, and mid-life hormones
aren't exactly helping with that lol. I have a great combo of dry
skin and in my early adult years I had horrific acne. Luckily my skin
didn't scar much at all but the dry skin and large pores make ongoing
facial care a nightmare at times combined with moderate sensitivity
issues. I find that some of the things I thought were culprits - like
scent or coloring - aren't as much as the other chemicals so often
found in commercial products, like SLS. My skin has really improved
since making my own stuff! I also have some ideas now about why some
handcrafted soaps I bought in the past were so great for my skin
while others weren't any better than commercial stuff. But I love to
experiment and I tend to make many small batches rather than larger
ones, mostly cold process bar soap but I've started playing with hp
liquid as well. I *love* to blend scents, but tend to stick with FOs
rather than EOs. I really want to learn more about EOs and am slowly
building knowledge on them. Much of my family has sensitive skin,
some much more than me. If I use the right products, my skin doesn't
act up at all, but we have folk with psoriasis and such that have to
be more careful. They are loving my stuff too so I must be doing a
few things right LOL. I have made facial masks, bath salts, lotions &
creams, pain creams, solid and liquid perfumes, lip balms and solid
lotion bars. Soap is drying on many surfaces of my home LOL and I
have more FOs than I care to admit. I also make laundry soap and
tooth soap, am slowly getting father away from using commercial
products. Started trying to make my own cleaning products for the
home, still working to get those tweaked. Somehow I have not yet
tried bath bombs, need to do that. I think the obsession is here to
stay lol!
When I'm not making soap and such, I keep very busy working full time
at a Joann's fabric/craft store, bead, knit, sew, play with digital
graphic arts and photography, read and bake. I am single with no kids
so the only one I have to answer to is me, so I can splurge on fancy
ingredients if I eat pb&j or rice & beans for a month LOL. But my
family is mostly nearby and we are all close, spending a lot of time
together as well. I find there are never enough hours in the day!
Enough babbling about me. Just thought I'de say hello and that I look
forward to getting to know you all!
