Basically, I use herbal infused grapeseed oil, sweet almond oil,
natural unbleached beeswax, cocoa butter, Shea butter, and Vitamin E.
Here's a sample recipe of a very small batch:
1.2 oz beeswax
1 fl oz infused grapeseed oil
.5 fl oz sweet almond oil
.75 oz cocoa butter
.75 oz Shea butter
1/2 tsp Vitamin E
Like I said, it's simple. Most of my customers on the rural
craft/festival route aren't impressed by ingredients they don't
recognize and many just want something basic that isn't TOO hard or
soft, and is most of all not greasy feeling.
In the winter, I don't mind a little more 'slip' or moisture as my dry
skin drinks it up. I want to try to make this formula less slick
without getting too 'chemical'. I want to stay as natural as possible,
like everybody else! ;-)
I keep seeing suggestions of adding anything from cornstarch (as I
mentioned before), to rice flour or arrowroot powder on various forums
and groups.
So, does anyone have any ideas for this type of formula that would be
inexpensive and as natural as possible? I have fiddled over the years
with different types of oils, butters, and their percentages to try
and tweak the basic formula and I am fairly happy with it. I just want
to make it a bit less slick for customers.
Thanks in advance!
