If it is a cream soap, it may have a high percentage of stearic to give it extra thickening. I
made a batch on the low end (60% IIRC), and the consistency is 'loose' enough to put into a
malibu type of tube. My understanding (haven't gone that high yet myself) is that 70-80%
stearic results in the very thick consistency. They may have also used some sort of thickener.
I've seen formulations that include Glyceral Stearate or HEC. Haven't made them myself, so
can't tell you more than that. And cream soap can be made hot process, although it is a bit
time consuming.
Since you would like to use surfactants, a starting point for you may be Angie's Lavender Cream
Cleanser, which can be found in her formulary. I've been wanting to try this myself, but keep
forgetting about it due to various distractions (danggit!). The description says "will be a
"butter" consistency, suitable for packaging in a jar", so it may be what you want.
